As a SW DevOps Engineer, you will support the implementation of engineering tools to support Synaptic's global engineering teams. You will partner closely with the hardware design team, software development team, and firmware development team. You will engage with the Synaptics IT team and business user teams during all phases of the implementation to enable the successful deployment of the engineering tools. 

  • Responsible for providing configuration management support, engineering, release and deployment, troubleshooting, and administration of Jenkins, Git, Gitlab, Gerrit, SVN, Jira/Confluence, static code analysis and other build and release applications and tools.
  • Maintains the version control application, build/deployment, issue tracking system, and will be a primary point of contact for technical escalation and administrative tasks supporting the development community and end-users.
  • Manages application servers hosting version control, build automation, and bug tracking (Jira), portal applications to support collaborative development efforts in an enterprise Linux and Windows environment
  • Participate in the configuration management support projects and works closely with other team members
  • Supports technical activities to automate application and content deployments using tools like Jenkins and in-house build tools
  • Deploys, maintains, and upgrades source code repositories utilizing Git, Gitlab, Gerrit Git, SVN
  • Develops software configuration management (SCM) processes and documentation and presents to product managers and developers
  • Coordinates architectural review checklist meetings

Assists build and deployment efforts in an enterprise-wide environment comprising Linux/Apache / IIS web servers, and J2EE or apache application server


  • 7 to 10+ years of IT knowledge and hands-on experience in configuration management, release management, structured system development methodologies, or a relevant technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience with Jenkins or CloudBees Jenkins and static analysis tool like Klocwork, Coverity, or SonarQube
  • 5+ years of experience with deploying SCM tools like Git, GitLab, Gerrit, SVN
  • 3+ years of experience in Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS deployment
  • 2+ years of experience with scripting Python, Perl, and Shell
  • 1+ years of experience administrating Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and fisheye 
  • Strong experience of version control tools like Git, Gitlab, Gerrit, SVN
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, etc.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills open-source software installation, and troubleshooting in a Linux / Windows environment/Docker/AWS
  • Must possess Windows and Linux / Unix experience, preferably with some system administrator experience, and scripting
  • Strong knowledge of build and deployment automations
  • Knowledge of Perl, PHP, Maven, Java (J2SE) technologies
  • Experience in a web hosting environment or a development environment
  • Programming background with one or more of the following: Java(J2SE), Perl, Python, PHP, shell scripting languages
  • An understanding of the software development lifecycle
    Preferred professional certification(s): Linux+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator, CM Certifications, Project Management and/or Agile Training
  • ITIL foundations certification or ability to obtain certification within 3-6 months of the start date
